Fighter Practices are BACK!!
Our Knight Marshal has stated that Fighting Practice will be on Saturdays
at 11:00 at Oatland Island(click
for directions).
Please check our group list for any
schedule changes.
As of June 1, 2003 all participants at a shire practice must have with
them proof of current Society
membership (blue card). Those that do not will be required to sign
a society waiver. This is a requirement from Society and will apply to
every practice, no exceptions.
Important Information from the Earl Marshal about weapons
We will be requiring lanyards on all one handed weapons.
Triggers do not count. This has been one of those rules we have kind of
skirted around for years because nobody, including me and his Majesty,
didn't want to do it. Unfortunately, the way the rule is written, we are
in violation. This rule wont come into effect until it is officially posted
in Pop Chiv. But you might want to start getting your guys to start
working on it. I have been told that Gleann Abhann will also be enacting
this rule and it is already active in the Kingdoms surrounding us.
At this time, there will not be a seperate two handed
weapon authorization. I would strongly reccomend that you discourage people
that havent practiced with these
weapons to use them at events! It is very easy for some one that has broken
a shield strap at a war to say well I will just play with this spear.
Please, if you think they are likely to do this make sure they get the
practice they need to be proficient.
My last concern is hand protection behind centergrip shields.
Your thumb must be covered. So many people have half hands that only cover
the back of their
hands with nothing over the thumb. Dont let them fight. If you are tough
on your guys locally, they wont travel for hundreds of miles to be told
their armor isnt legal. All of the people from my local group went through
armor inspection at Gulf Wars with
no problem at all. There were people from other groups that were not that
lucky. If it might be illegal fix it.
These
